General Information on Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM) e-Invoice

  1. 1.What is an e-Invoice?

    An e-Invoice is a digital representation of a transaction between a supplier and a buyer. e-Invoice replaces paper or electronic documents such as invoices, credit notes, debit notes, and refund notes and contains the same essential data as traditional documents. For more information, kindly refer to the IRBM website.

  2. 2.What is the key difference between a normal invoice and an e-Invoice?

    The e-Invoice must be validated by IRBM. Upon validation, the buyer will receive the validated e-Invoice or its visual representation (embedded with a QR code) from the supplier. The QR code can be used to prove the existence and check the status of the e-Invoice.

  3. 3.Will the e-Invoice replace the monthly Postpaid bill statement that XOX sends to me?

    No. Our billing process remains unchanged. You will receive the monthly Postpaid bill statement as usual. Upon the request of subscribers, an e-Invoice will be provided to you as required by IRBM for your tax deduction.

e-Invoice Compliance in XOX

  1. 1.When will XOX comply with e-Invoice implementation?

    XOX is participating in Phase 1 of the e-Invoice implementation, which commenced on 1 August 2024.

    However, IRBM has granted a concession to implement and share validated individual e-Invoices with our customers, effective by 1 February 2025

  2. 2.Postpaid Subscriber

    1. I want an e-Invoice from XOX. How can I submit my request?
      Kindly choose your e-Invoice preference by mobile number on xoxeinvoice.xox.com.my. You will receive a validated e-Invoice after 3 - 5 days from your bill statement.

    2. If I submit my request after the bill statement, when can I receive a validated e-Invoice?
      You will not receive a validated e-Invoice for the current bill statement. The e-Invoice will be available for your next bill statement.
      Example: If your bill statement is dated 15-Aug, kindly update your e-Invoice preference before 15-Aug. Any update after 15-Aug, will only be available for the next bill statement, which is 15-Sep.

    3. If I do not choose my e-Invoice preference, will I receive an e-Invoice?
      By default, no e-Invoice will be issued. You will only receive the bill statement as usual.

  3. 3.Prepaid Subscriber

    1. If I purchase from Online Platforms and I want an e-Invoice from XOX. How can I submit my request?
      Kindly choose your e-Invoice preference by mobile number on xoxeinvoice.xox.com.my. You will receive a validated e-Invoice after 3 - 5 days from your purchase date from the Online Platforms below:

      Example: If you need an e-invoice for a purchase on 15-Aug, kindly update your e-Invoice preference before 15-Aug. Any update after 15-Aug, will only be available for the next purchase.

    2. If I purchase from XOX Outlets and I want an e-Invoice from XOX. How can I submit my request?
      Option 1: You may scan the QR code on the receipt to request an e-invoice online.
      Option 2: You may request over the counter immediately right after the payment is made.
      Our stores that have implemented e-invoice effective on 1st August 2024 are:

      1. Sunway Pyramid Selangor
      2. Sunway Velocity Kuala Lumpur
      3. Bay Avenue Queensbay Pulau Pinang
      4. ICT Digital Mall @Komtar Pulau Pinang
      5. Jalan Sekama Kuching Sarawak
    3. If I purchase from authorised XOX dealers and I want an e-Invoice. How can I submit my request?
      You may request it directly from the respective authorised dealers’ store or booth from which you have purchased.

    4. If I do not choose my e-Invoice preference, will I receive an e-Invoice?
      By default, no e-Invoice will be issued. You will only receive the receipt as usual.

  4. 4.Can I request an e-Invoice under another person’s name?

    No, for e-Invoice purposes, XOX will only issue validated e-invoices in the owner’s name of the registered mobile number.

  5. 5.Non-subscribers

    1. If I have not activated my number and I want an e-Invoice from XOX. How can I submit my request?
      Kindly visit xoxeinvoice.xox.com.my and submit your e-Invoice request under Non-Subscriber. Kindly note that a receipt can only be used once to request an e-Invoice. Such a request must be submitted on the 2nd day from the purchase date. Example: If you need an e-invoice for a purchase on 15-Aug, kindly submit your request on 16-Aug.

    2. Can I request an e-Invoice after 1 day from the purchase date?
      Unfortunately, no.

    3. Can I edit my information after submission?
      Unfortunately, no.

    4. Can I request an e-Invoice for the same receipt more than once?
      Unfortunately, no.

Information Required for Issuance of e-Invoice

  1. 1.What information is needed from me if I require an e-Invoice?

    For enterprise subscribers, the following information is needed to be provided to XOX:

    1. Company Name (mandatory)
    2. TIN (Tax Identification Number) (mandatory)
    3. New and old BRN (Business Registration Number) (mandatory)
    4. Sales and Service Tax (SST) number (if applicable)
    5. Email address (mandatory)
    6. Address (mandatory)
    7. Contact Number (mandatory)

    For individual subscribers, the following information is needed to be provided to XOX:

    1. Individual Name (mandatory)
    2. TIN (Tax Identification Number) (if applicable)
    3. NRIC (National Registration Identity Card) (mandatory)
    4. Email address (mandatory)
    5. Address (mandatory)
    6. Contact Number (mandatory)
  2. 2.How do I provide and update this information?

    You may provide your TIN and/or SST by visiting xoxeinvoice.xox.com.my. You will be required to input a TAC code that will be immediately sent to you. If you would like to update your other information, kindly contact Customer Care at 12273 or email to enquiries@xox.com.my.

  3. 3.How do I edit my information after submission to XOX?

    You may update your information by visiting xoxeinvoice.xox.com.my.

  4. 4.If I am unable to log in into the page, what should I do?

    Kindly double check that the information you have entered is correct. You have to log in using your registered mobile number and identity number. If the error persists, kindly contact Customer Care at 12273 or email to enquiries@xox.com.my.

  5. 5.If I have not provided all mandatory information to XOX, can I receive an e-Invoice?

    No, if all mandatory information is not provided, IRBM will reject the e-Invoice during the validation stage. XOX is unable to issue a validated e-Invoice which you or your company may require for tax deduction purposes. As such, kindly review the accuracy of information submitted.

  6. 6.If I provided incorrect mandatory information to XOX, can I receive an e-Invoice?

    If the mandatory information provided is incorrect, IRBM may reject the e-Invoice during validation. XOX is unable to issue a validated e-Invoice which you or your company may require for tax deduction purposes. As such, kindly review the accuracy of information submitted.

  7. 7.What should I do if I do not receive a validated e-Invoice after my submission?

    Kindly contact Customer Care at 12273 or email to enquiries@xox.com.my for your future e-Invoice purpose.

  8. 8.If information in my e-Invoice is incorrect, what should I do?

    Kindly contact Customer Care at 12273 or email to enquiries@xox.com.my.

  9. 9.Is my updated information to XOX protected and safe?
